Mmm.... Hotel Chocolat...

I simply love dark chocolate and I chanced upon this Chocolatier in Birmingham a few months back.

After greedily taking one bite of the milk chocolate sample, I was hooked. And I am not usually impressed by milk chocolate. Well, I did end up leaving the shop with gifts for my friends and myself of course.

Due to my eagerness, I overlooked that the chocolate may melt in Singapore's hot climate. I choose to believe that my friends still manage to enjoy the lumps of delicious Hotel Chocolat chocolate. Hehe...

Check out their extra thick and very cute Easter Chocolate Eggs:

So very cute, look at that duckie!!!

So yummy!! :P~~

So divinely dark. Mmmm....

Cheenah Beans - Leaves With Words?

I chanced upon some interesting plant beans today. The leaves will supposedly grow out with the Chinese wordings and pictures on them.

I selected a few beans for gifts and the 2 for bf.

I'll update on the plant status and if they really do grow.

It's The Small Things That Make Up Life

Someone once said to me, "It's the small things that make up life". It took me a while to agree and see that.

Yes, it's about the small stuff. And this blog is set up precisely to share my precious small moments.

When was the last time you did something small but meaningful for your loved ones? When was the last time you counted your blessings?

In the midst of chasing after the big things, don't forget the small things..

"Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that life is made up of little things."

New Car Shopping

This conversation took place about 2 weeks back at the Honda showroom:

BF:                      What about the off-white for the CRV?

Salesman:     It's the same as that pearly white CRV over there.

Me:                    No, there's one more milky white that's not so white white. That's the white we both like.
Salesman:     Hmmm.... There has always been only 1 white for the Honda CRV.

BF:                     Maybe it's a very old model?

Salesman:     Hmmm.... No le....
(confused)

Me:                   There it is, that's the kind of white we are referring to. (pointing to a creamy white CRV that
                            just passed us)

Salesman:      Oh, that one never wash and wax la.

BF & I:               Oh! Hehe... (feel very very silly)

Needless to say, we didn't choose the white one even though it was my favourite kind of "white" for cars all these while.

Baby Ambitions

My younger niece is an ambitious one. She took her 1st steps when only 9 months old.

At home, she has felt and tasted almost everything placed below 80cm and within her reach.

She still cannot call me "Yiyi" and she rather learn to pronounce "Octopus".

Here's her version of Octopus.

"Or...-tata" Hee hee.

A Cure For Sore Throat?

As advised, I went to buy a coconut to drink as it's supposedly cooling and cures sore throats.

I was in a rush and had to balance the big coconut all the way out of the shopping mall into the car.

And it tasted yucks! Now, I remember why I dislike coconut juice so. The after taste is very similar to yam. Nonetheless, I forced half of it down my throat.

My throat feels better this morning. I'm not sure whether it's because I've just completed my course of antibiotics or because of the wondrous coconut juice.

No harm giving the yam-like tasting coconut juice a try if you have sore throat! ;)

One of my Favourite Quotes

... that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves, too.

It is extracted from this:

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves, too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. The whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material his way. I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets: 'Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.'"
(from W.H. Murray, "The Scottish Himalayan Expedition")

To me, it's like when you decide you want something badly enough, the universe will help you achieve your dreams. Simply because you've open your mind and heart to all possibilities of achieving your goals. And you will, simply because you've set your heart to it.

So, dream big and let go; learn to trust yourself and the universe.

Squeeze Squeeze Poke Poke

Going for my facial later and I'm looking forward to it. It's truly relaxing besides the 10 mins or so of squeezing and poking of whatever junk there is out of my pores.

I love the head and shoulder massage right after that. This will lift my mood and ease the pain of my terribly sore throat.

Why I Believe God Exists

I never really have the faith until I was in University.

Studying biochemistry changed my thinking. I got acquainted with the intricacy of life and the beauty of being human; right down to the nitty gritty molecules in our human body.

This intricacies of life wouldn't have happened by chance, would it?

Just don't ask me what an "Okazaki fragment" is; my fuzzy memory doesn't serve me well.  And to think I wanted to do a Masters in Biochem. Tsk!

Creation vs Evolution

Why can't evolution coexists with creation?

I believe God exists. And I believe God planned for us to evolve.

I Am So Sick Of Being Sick!

I have been falling sick on a monthly basis since Jan 2010.

It seems like my immunity is really weak. Every time the babies or someone close to me is sick, I'll bound to get it too.

I am SO sick of being sick... I just recovered from my high fever and was unable to work today. It's so tiring to be sick.

Besides exercising and taking multi-vitamins, how else can I boost my immunity?

If It's Meant To Be, It'll Be...

I put into practice the mindset of "If it's meant to be yours, it'll come your way easy". I've written on this in my previous post.

I went for Charles & Keith warehouse sale today and instead of being the the crazed bargain hunter. I hold back my aggression and graciously let another lady have the last pair of a chic size 35 high heels.

I then head back to the sale rack outside the building telling myself that if the other pair of cute heels are still there, it's meant to be mine instead then.

And... Ta-da!

It's the only pair of shoes I got from this sale. And I love it so. It's comfy, easy to match and a steal at only $19.90. There's no need for tempers to flare and the sour feeling of not being able to get what I want.

Most of all, it's meant to be mine. =)

Posing Posing

Found some pics I have taken earlier this year.

Gave her a hair band and a rose and she starting posing so sweetly.

This is my favourite shot: Acting Cute. And it's real cute!

Now, now, where did she learn this from?

Splashes of Morbid Creativity

Are today's youth really more disturbed than the last generation? Or is violence and darkness considered cool to them?

Some art installations I came across last year by various students averaging 15 years old.

Tortured Soul

Painful Childhood (look at the knives sticking into the book shelf)

Evil Minnie Mouse (strangling Dino)

Family Violence

Joyous Pain

And this is amusing and creative still.

Life Should Be Easy

I was chatting with a customer today and she mentioned she was in no hurry to find a new space for her shop that has closed. Her reasoning is that it is meant to be hers, it'll come her way easily.

Now, that makes sense to me.

Being a Christian, she believes that God will provide and that if it was meant to be, it will be given. Hence, it'll be easy.

To me, that's the same meaning as if it's meant to be / fated to be, it'll be.

How many times have we try very hard at something that's not meant to be when the right opportunity or right person is just beside?

Just like a relationship, if it's meant to be, it'll come along easy.

Kids Are Easy To Work With

I applied a white facial mask yesterday and it scared my younger niece.

In my attempts to try to carry her, my hands got pushed away and was instead rejected with tears.

When I said "Mummm Mummm...", she faced me immediately and stretched out her hands. How could I refuse her some baby biscuits?

The hand of a full and satisfied little person:

It's really easy to work with kids, especially greedy ones.

Babies Joy

I never thought I'd have so much fun with babies.

Yesterday, we celebrated my eldest niece birthday. In a blink of en eye, she is already 3 years old and it has been lovely having them in my life.

They are so cute! One is a sweetie pie and the other, a terror.
