I Want To Be A Princess

What do you do when your dream is to be a princess when you grow up?

What do you do when you are neither a brunette nor a blonde?

What do you do when you hardly get to wear a full gown?

What do you do?
What would you do??

Princess Hands

Then you'd just pose like one whenever you have the chance to. Haha... so cute.

An Indian Night Out - Tandoor North Indian Restaurant @ Holiday Inn Singapore

Friday's birthday celebration at Tandoor North Indian Restaurant is probably the last birthday celebration this year for my family. I got Val to write a birthday card for my sis and here she is happily posing with it.

Not too bad an attempt for a 3 years old although it got worse towards the end... The words are actually:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY!
2010
VALERIE + CLARA

The award winning Tandoor North Indian Restaurant's ambiance is really classy and cozy and made us feel very welcomed.

We ordered a lamb curry, a chicken curry, a brinjal dish and a exceptionally well-cooked grilled fish dish called Mahi Rai. And  of course 2 non-spicy dishes (chicken & cheese) for the little girls.

I particularly like the Paneer (cheese) for North Indian food and everyone loves the Mahi Rai. It had a tinge of sourly lemony taste that blended so well with the richly flavoured fish. With each bite of the fish, there was a burst of flavours!

We were told by the manager that this dish is prepared with a kind of Spanish mackerel marinated for at least 6 hours. The ingredients consist of mustard seed, ginger and tumeric and it is the mustard seed that helps deliver the wonderful flavour into the fillet during the 6 hours marination.

The Mango Lassi was good too and we had a yummy dinner that night. With a Standard Charted credit card, you can even enjoy a further 15% discount!

Read more review about Tandoor North Indian Restaurant here. Apparently, their set lunch is really value for money!

At the end of the meal, we were served this sweet treat. The "rice bits" tasted like they were spice perfume and even little Clara had some of it. The taste of perfume lingered in the mouth and this was a nice touch to finish off the dinner.

Does anyone know what this is called? Do leave me a message if you do.

On the whole, we had a very pleasant evening with great service. And don't be deceived by little Clara's demure and blur look here, she was so comfortable that night at the restaurant that she kept saying "Hello!" to everyone who walked past.

And I also found out that this little feisty 1.5 years old girl here can take spicy food!

Strawberry Shortcake Wannabe-Not

2 days ago, my niece Val kept calling me "Strawberry Shortcake" when I came home in the late evening.

Dumbfounded, my sis asked her why and she pointed out that I have red hair.

Things kids say... Cute! =)

Thanying Thai Restaurant: Mum's Birthday Dinner

We celebrate mum's birthday at Thanying Restaurant at Amara Hotel 2 nights ago. It was a rare gathering for the whole family 'coz my eldest sis and bro-in-law was in SG for a few days. I suspect she has timed it in time for the Great Singapore Sale. :P

I snapped some pics as I was the first to arrived... And I was way too early.

Bf had a good chuckle every time I mistake the lemongrass as my straw. And the lemongrass drink wasn't nice.

But this Miang Kham dish was really good! It had little bits of fish, peanuts, spices etc. all wrapped in a betel leaf as an appetizer. A must-order for starter!

Some nice dishes I'll recommend is the Tom Yam Goong if you like the clear kind of soup. I personally prefer the milky one from E-Sarn Thai Cuisine. The Grapoh Pla Namdang (Fish Maw Soup with Quail's Egg) is nice enough for a non-fish-maw person like me to drink it.

The Stuffed Chicken Wing was delicious too. The Red Curry Duck is another dish worth trying, it was better than the Green Curry Chicken in my opinion. And the curries went really well with the Fried Rice with Black Olives.

And I really enjoyed the Pla Krapong (Steamed Seabass with Special Lime and Chilli Sauce)  It was so good I finished up all of it. You can refer to this link for more of the signature dishes.

These are all the food pics I took that night 'coz I was hungry when everyone arrived and the food was served immediately and I just chomp my way through.

Some happy and satisfied faces except for Val's little sour face.

More pictures with babies.

We had a yummy night at Thanying Restaurant!

My First Harrowing Encounter with Diaper Changing

This surely is one defining moment of mine; my first attempt at diaper changing.

Mum had to bring my older niece to the doctor after dinner. Soon after they left the house, my poop sensitive nose smelt something awful coming from the other room. To my horror, my little niece, Clara, has indeed pooped! I distracted her with her favourite "Peek-A-Boo" baby VCD and watched the clock.

About one and a half hour has passed and my mum was still not home yet. Feeling guilty from Clara's incessant cries and creative attempts to call out for my mum in different ways, I've decided to give her a clean butt.

It was a harrowing experience! O... that awful smell!!! But she seemed to enjoy being tickled by the sprays of the shower head and giggled as I washed her.

As I was putting the diaper on her, my mum came home just in time for the rescue. It would have been perfect if not for the diaper that was worn back to front.

I totally understand why dads out there hate changing diapers. And if you guys haven't realized it, it's just as horrifying an experience for us gals too!

Please save us from that smell sometimes too!!!

29th April Is My Day!

I celebrated my birthday with my family recently at a cozy neighborhood Thai eatery called E-Sarn Thai Cuisine situated at Ridgewood Close.

At E-Sarn, I tasted one of the best tom yam soup ever! It's a must try!

I was rather hungry when I arrived and the tom yam soup was the first dish to be served. After taking just 1 mouthful, I couldn't stop finishing the whole bowl of it. Because of that, I suffered a minor stomachache midway through my meal. But it was all worth it! =)

Val's new pose

Acting cute with yee yee

The grilled pork was not too bad also and overall, the food is value for money. I will go back again to check out the ice cream cafe next door. It's a nice place to chill.

The next day on my birthday itself, bf treated me to a hotel stay. Guess which hotel this is:

Yeah, the rather new Resorts World Sentosa Hard Rock Hotel. The guitar-shaped toiletries container looks kinda cute eh?

The room is so so but the pool is simply fantastic!

View of sand pool from our room

I simply love the sand. I was told that they were specially imported from Australia at the price of SGD$500,000!

The sand is fine enough and yet, the grains are not so fine that they will stay on your skin when your brush them off. It's amazing! I really enjoyed the recreated beach at the hotel.

There is a total of 4 pools with 1 sand pool. Although my fear of the harmful sun rays and chlorine damaged hair have caught up with age, it wasn't enough to keep me away from swimming.

And I tasted my first rabbit meat pasta at Palio at Hotel Michael. Did you know rabbit meat taste like a cross between chicken and tuna? Anyway, The Spaghetti Frutti Di Mare is better. One of the better ones I've tasted.

Baby Ambitions

My younger niece is an ambitious one. She took her 1st steps when only 9 months old.

At home, she has felt and tasted almost everything placed below 80cm and within her reach.

She still cannot call me "Yiyi" and she rather learn to pronounce "Octopus".

Here's her version of Octopus.

"Or...-tata" Hee hee.

Posing Posing

Found some pics I have taken earlier this year.

Gave her a hair band and a rose and she starting posing so sweetly.

This is my favourite shot: Acting Cute. And it's real cute!

Now, now, where did she learn this from?

Kids Are Easy To Work With

I applied a white facial mask yesterday and it scared my younger niece.

In my attempts to try to carry her, my hands got pushed away and was instead rejected with tears.

When I said "Mummm Mummm...", she faced me immediately and stretched out her hands. How could I refuse her some baby biscuits?

The hand of a full and satisfied little person:

It's really easy to work with kids, especially greedy ones.

Babies Joy

I never thought I'd have so much fun with babies.

Yesterday, we celebrated my eldest niece birthday. In a blink of en eye, she is already 3 years old and it has been lovely having them in my life.

They are so cute! One is a sweetie pie and the other, a terror.
